Being that they are two completely different genres (the adventure vs. the epic) I can honestly say that I love them both. =)

Pitch Black, and pretty easily, too.

But I must say that the director's cut of Chronicles is much better than the theatrical one was.

I enjoyed Pitch Black, but Chronicles wins simply because it had both Dame Judy Dench and Vin Diesel.

Hard to say, due to them both being extremely excellent films. But I think I'll go with Chronicles being the better of the two, because 1) it is a sequel that doesn't completely suck monkey nuts, 2) it has incredible special effects and a wide variety of landscapes, as well as 3) a shitload of background for almost everything in the film.

Pitch Black was incredible, but unfortunately my vote goes for Chronicles, simply because it was a follow-up act that actually rocked pretty hardcore.

Pitch Black, but the Chronicles had sexier people in it. And, since I have to comment why, I felt that the mythology they were developing in Pitch Black was more entertaining than that whole Furian thing of Chronicles. And the whole Jack thing in Chronicles. :(

Pitch Black for me. Own the DVD and watch it every month or so. I saw Chronicles in the theater and I didn't feel I wasted my time or money but also haven't felt the need to add it to the DVD collection either. But like [info]kittythepook said they're two completely different genres.

since I haven't seen either one...neither! Though my sister states that Pitch Black is the less suckier (is that even a word?!?!?) of the two.

Pitch Black.

Chronicles of Riddick was too self-important, escalating danger to the scale of the galaxy. Pitch Black stays on a personal, human level.

Chronicles, hands down. Pitch Black was a good movie, but Chronicles gave more to the series (pretty rare for a sequel) than it took away from its predecessor.

Chronicles wasn't nearly as bad as I heard before seeing it, but "Pitch black" is brilliant. "PB" is the winnah!
